TV Mounting in Nicholasville, KY

Nicholasville's building boom is the main thing we see on the US-27 corridor. Jessamine County absorbed a lot of Lexington's growth through the 2000s — county numbers show the years between 2000 and 2009 were the busiest building decade in the county's modern history, and the pace has kept up since — and developments like Brannon Crossing have put up most of their homes since 2020. That is genuinely good news for a TV install: new-construction walls are drywall on wood studs, 16 inches on center, straight and predictable, about the easiest mounting surface there is. The one thing new homes still get wrong is outlet placement. Builders put an outlet where it was cheapest to wire, which is often off to one side of where you actually want the TV, so a big part of the job in a newer Nicholasville house is adding a proper outlet behind the TV so nothing shows. It's the same story in the town's steady stream of rental construction and in the new-builds along the Brannon Road and Union Mill corridors.

The other Nicholasville is older and quieter. South of town along the Kentucky River, Camp Nelson was established in 1863 as one of the Union Army's largest supply depots and recruiting and training centers during the Civil War — it's a National Monument now, and the farmhouses and older homes in that stretch are a different world from Brannon Crossing. You find plaster over wood lath, rooms added on at different times, and studs that do not run on a clean grid. We still mount right into structure, but we find it first instead of assuming. Wilmore, five minutes west, is the same story: Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary give the town a healthy share of older homes — a far higher percentage of Wilmore's housing predates 1970 than Nicholasville's — and plenty of rental houses near campus.
