TV Mounting in Somerset, KY

Somerset is our longest run, and it's a different kind of job from the rest of Central Kentucky. A lot of what gets mounted around Lake Cumberland isn't somebody's everyday living room — it's a lake house, a cabin, or a second property that sits empty half the year and fills up every weekend from May through October. That changes what a good install looks like.

The walls are the first difference. Plenty of places out here are log, timber frame, tongue-and-groove pine, or knotty paneling over furring strips rather than plain drywall on 16-inch centers. Log is genuinely excellent to mount to — it's solid wood all the way through, so once you hit it with the right lag screws it isn't going anywhere. The catch is that log walls are rarely flat. A round or hand-hewn face means a flush mount will sit crooked unless you build a proper backer board first, which is exactly what we do: a hardwood plate scribed to the wall, anchored into the logs, mount bolted to that. Done right you don't notice it. Done wrong the TV leans forward and nobody can figure out why.
